Last week was full of STEAM activities and it was wonderful to see so many parents visit us during our Open Morning to see all the displays and activities and learn so much from our expert presenters with their demonstrations of a range of amazing experiments and detailed commentaries of dissected organs. Our STEAM week began with a visit and talk from the Midwives Association of Asturias and we are grateful to Inmaculada, mother of Sofía, who let the pupils listen to her baby’s heartbeat. We wish her all the best with the birth of her baby. A number of parents also formed teams with the pupils and joined in our ‘escape room’ activities. Pupils were challenged with logic puzzles in maths, growing crops in a Geography Simulation and, in Technology, a Formula 1 simulation to produce the best car whilst others have tested their personally constructed catamarans in the swimming pool. Younger pupils completed challenges with robots. Our senior artists created a wonderful mural depicting famous female scientists, their discoveries and their contribution to science and society. It was a week full of enthusiasm, amazement, challenge and lots of hard work.
