19th March 18
We had a packed Languages day on 14th March with a variety of activities organised during the day. A visiting theatre group from the UK : Forum Theatre performed two plays. One called ‘Dinos’ was for infants and 1º Primary where the children were fully absorbed in a dynamic presentation of musical and spoken activities. The second play, the Spirit of Harry Houdini, for 4ºESO and BAC was full of suspense an intrigue and an exciting way to develop listening and linguistic skills. Sabrina from the Alliance Francaise worked with 5ºPrimary using cinema clips and other activities to show the pupils that even at this age, their level of French is a useful communication tool. 5ºPrimary studying German took part in a quiz competition showing off their German language skills and general knowledge.
1ºESO A and C performed their plays in English to different year groups. 1ºESO A performed for 2º to 6ºPrimaryand staff, their amusing fairy tales with a twist: “The princess and the pea”, “The Boy who cried dinosaur” and “Rumpelstiltskin”. 1ºESO C performed the musical Grease and received rapturous applause from 1º, 2º and 3ºESO and staff. It was a pleasure seeing how much the pupils enjoyed performing, how valuable these opportunities are for developing speaking and presentation skills and how much the audience listened to and supported the actors.
