At Palacio de Granda we don’t see Science learning from just a theoretical approach. It is necessary to promote practical learning by observing, experiencing and experimenting.
The main aim must be to develop scientific attitudes in the students, encouraging them to search for responses to the problems they find, using systematic observation and the objective examination of experimental evidence.
By means of this approach we promote active and cooperative learning. The student develops new abilities, learns elemental techniques and becomes familiar with instrumental and devices. This enhances motivation, understanding and interpretation of concepts and scientific procedures. It also contributes to the acquisition of work discipline in a laboratory, respecting security ahd hygiene rules and valuing the importance of using personal protection equipment.
This year we have started practising dissections in Biology and Geology lessons, especially invertebrates and organs.
